Life-as-usual.

What it's actually like
on retreat

A short film of participants from our partner Dharma Gates' retreats, in their own words. No script. Just six people on what the week was like, what shifted, and what they took home.

THREE THINGS, THAT'S IT

What you actually do here.

FIRST

Understand yourself. And others.

In-person retreats and events in the UK and Europe. Phones go in a box at arrival. 1–7 days at a time. Insight. Loving kindness. Empathy. At a whole new level. Completely free.

SECOND

Learn to watch your own mind.

Contemplative practice from a 2,500-year-old lineage. In plain English. No jargon. You don't have to be Buddhist. You don't have to have meditated before.

THIRD

Keep growing in your daily life.

A small online community of fellow practitioners — weekly live sits, written Notes, real conversations. Beyond just a social network. A continuing conversation.

A WAY IN

See where you stand.

Twenty-two short questions about how you actually relate to your own mind — reactivity, energy, meaning, connection, peace, curiosity. It is not a test. There is no score to fail.

An invitation to pause
Honest reflection, not a diagnosis
2 personalised suggestions at the end

No payment. No commitment.

WRITEN REFLECTIONS

What people who've
sat with us say

Reflections from participants of our partner Dharma Gates retreats, in their own words.

"I knew I needed to change something. This helped me answer that yearning. It was life-changing."

・PAIGE

“It brought me home to who I’ve always been, and who I will always be.”

・MICHAELA

“The most notable aspect, aside from my personal practice, was the community. I’d sort of given up on merging social/friend/everyday community with spiritual community. This is where I want to be.”

・SPENCER

“Before the retreat, I had no idea that meditation could be so blissful and take you so far.”

・LUMIN

“I didn’t expect to feel such kinship and love from others. I’m walking away with more fulfilment and confidence than I could have imagined.”

・DAVID

“This retreat was illuminating. I realised I’ve been denying myself love and connection with others. For the first time I can remember, I’m confident I can find love within myself here and now.”

・ZACH

“Seeing how the dharma can be applicable in my life even though I don’t consider myself Buddhist.”

・JOSIE

“I’d tried meditation before but never found fulfilment. This retreat brought meaning to me about life — and what meditation could actually do.”

・MOHONA

“This retreat was very supportive in connecting to myself, my values, and how I’d like to move through the world. The teacher’s language and teachings resonated deeply.”

・MONISHA

FAQs

Questions people ask?

  • No. Sourced in the universal, insight teachings of the historical Buddha for developing the heart and mind, our community and offerings are completely open to anyone of any background, religion or worldview. The teaching is in plain English.

  • No. Retreats are designed to fully include the spectrum from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, and in between e.g. people who might have read about it, tried the apps, sat a few times — but never really.

  • It’s completely free. Donations make our retreats and events possible and are welcomed — never required. Even the multi-day residential ones. Yes, really.

  • In the UK and Europe. The specific venue is confirmed per retreat and shared by email.

  • Really. At arrival. You get them back at the end. It is one of the things people thank us for most.

  • Start with the self-reflection tool, and the mailing list. Then the online sits. Retreats can come when you feel ready. That said, there’s also a ton of power in just jumping in. Going beyond your comfort zone.
